The field

DeChambeau headlines the field while defending his crown. This will be the heavy hitter's third straight event, and likely his last before the Open Championship.

Patrick Reed, Hideki Matsuyama, Webb Simpson, and Will Zalatoris are among the other notables competing in Detroit.

With only eight of the world's top 30 players in action, the Rocket Mortgage Classic features one of the weaker fields of the season, as many of the top talents are preparing for the Open Championship.

The course

Detroit Golf Club is a 7,340-yard, par-72 course that Donald Ross designed in 1916. The property consists of two different 18-hole layouts, with the north course plus a hole from the south mainly used to create a test for the PGA Tour pros.

Similar to Ross' other venues the TOUR visits (Sedgefield Country Club for the Wyndham Championship and East Lake Golf Club for the Tour Championship), Detroit Golf Club is built with a traditional layout, as trees line narrow fairways and bunkers closely protect small greens. And it won't reward only the longest hitters on TOUR.
