PHOTO: Jets' Michael Hutchinson sticks with minimalist approach for new goalie mask

Though Winnipeg Jets goaltender Michael Hutchinson will surely start the season with the Jets, he isn't on a one-way contract for next season (his hybrid, two-year deal will guarantee him an NHL-level salary in 2015-16). So it makes sense that the 24-year-old puckstopper would want to play it safe, and not rock the boat in what is likely to be his first full season of NHL action.

His mask for next season was designed and painted by David Leroux of Diel Airbrush, and in contrast to some of the more out-there designs we've seen this summer, Hutchison's new lid is rather conservative, minimalist even.

The mask itself includes multiple Canadian maple leafs – one on the head, and one on the chin. The hyper-nationalism goes well with the Jets' Canadian Air Force-style sweaters, and Hutchison's mask also includes a Second World War-era fighter jet on both the left and right sides of the mask.
