The two biggest names in boxing – Manny Pacquiao (56-5) and Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0) – may finally square off within the first six months of 2015, according to boxing promoter Bob Arum.

“Both networks want this fight to happen,” Arum told the San Francisco Chronicle, referring to HBO and Showtime/CBS, owners of the television rights of fights involving Pacquiao and Mayweather, respectively. “All signs seem to point to the fight happening early next year.”

There has been plenty of smoke but no fire with respect to a bout between the two boxing superstars. Each time, events transpired to squash a potential fight. However, Arum notes that the impediments, such as Mayweather's previous insistence on drug testing, are no longer an issue.

For what it's worth, Pacquiao noted that he's "ready to fight Floyd anytime," but as Arum says, "it's up to the fight camps to resolve the deal." Arum says he wants a provision that awards the winner with a greater share of the prize money.
