Bills GM: 'You've got to have a franchise quarterback'

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane may have tipped his draft strategy Monday.

Armed with the No. 12 and No. 22 picks, the Bills could end up being one of the biggest players during the first round later this April, and they need a quarterback after trading Tyrod Taylor to the Cleveland Browns.

Although the Bills signed AJ McCarron, it's been suggested that they could trade up to select one of the premier quarterbacks in the 2018 class, and Beane readily admitted the position is a priority.

"You've got to have a franchise quarterback. That's one of the main jobs of the GM," Beane told reporters during his press conference Monday, according to Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News.

It's possible that the Bills could find their quarterback at No. 12, but the top five signal-callers in this year's cohort might be off the board by then.

Beane later hedged a bit, noting this spring's talent pool extends beyond quarterback.
