Sherman on sideline outbursts: 'I might have gone over the top'
Richard Sherman knows he can dial it down a notch.
The fiery Seattle Seahawks corner had a number of sideline blowups during the 2016 season that were caught on film for millions to see. They were directed at teammates and coaches, and added to a turbulent season for Sherman.
In the offseason, Seattle's front office flirted with trading the All-Pro, but ultimately nixed the idea.
"I might have gone over the top," Sherman said of his sideline confrontations, according to Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.
The displays led to plenty of talks between he and head coach Pete Carroll, who recently credited his top corner for owning up to his behavior.
"I hold myself to a high standard, and I'm a heart-on-the-sleeve kind of player," Sherman said. "So I'm competitive as all get out. ... At all times I'm trying to win. At all times I'm trying to push the envelope and push the limits."
Sherman may be making nice now, but expect much of the same when he gets in between the white lines again.
