Roy Halladay's career as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies may always be remembered for his accomplishments on the mound - such as his perfect game and postseason no-hitter - and now, the man himself will forever be commemorated in the City of Brotherly Love.

The Phillies will posthumously add Halladay - who died at the age of 40 during a plane crash in November - to their Wall of Fame on Aug. 4, according to a team announcement. The Phillies will also honor Pat Gillick as their inaugural executive inductee.

"This will be a very emotional evening as we not only honor the memory of Roy Halladay, but also pay tribute to his extraordinary accomplishments on the mound as he becomes the 39th inductee of the Phillies Wall of Fame," said the team's executive vice president, David Buck.

The induction ceremony will take place prior to the Phillies' 7:05 p.m. ET start time at Citizens Bank Park versus the Miami Marlins, with Halladay's family and players who were a part of his career participating in the event.

Halladay crashed his small seaplane into the Gulf of Mexico on Nov. 7 and is survived by his wife Brandy and his two sons, Braden and Ryan.

"Braden, Ryan and I are so honored to have Roy remembered in this way," said Brandy Halladay. "He will be in great company with other Phillies legends who are on the Wall of Fame. The decision made by the Phillies to induct Roy without a fan vote makes it even more meaningful. I look forward to fans and the community coming out to celebrate this special occasion with us."

Before his death, Halladay pitched 16 years in the majors - four with Philadelphia. He was an eight-time All-Star and winner of two Cy Young awards who fashioned a 203-105 record with a 3.38 ERA and 1.18 WHIP.
