Watch: Harper's mad dash home walks off Phillies in 10th

MLB / Twitter

Bryce Harper wasn't going to be denied the game-winning run on this day.

When his teammate Daniel Murphy flared a base hit into left field off Philadelphia Phillies reliever Jeanmar Gomez in the 10th inning on Friday, Harper - who had been standing on first - immediately turned on the jets with an Enos Slaughter-esque dash around the bases to score the game-winning run at Nationals Park. The superstar's hustle ensured there wouldn't be a play at the plate, and he slid headfirst across home untouched and helmet-less to give the Washington Nationals a dramatic 3-2 victory over Philadelphia - where he was greeted on the dirt by an ecstatic Jayson Werth.

Harper wasn't the only National to star on the game-winning play, of course, as Murphy's walk-off double - his second hit of the day - helped continue his torrid start to 2017. The 32-year-old is now hitting .444 on the young season, tops in the Senior Circuit and second only to Avisail Garcia in the majors.
