Wichita State's Willis scores 2 points after trash-talking Kentucky

USA TODAY Sports

Darral Willis Jr. may want to think twice about giving an opponent like Kentucky bulletin-board material next time around.

The Wichita State forward called the Wildcats "nothing special" prior to Sunday's matchup, but delivered just two points on 1-of-4 shooting. Willis saw the floor for just eight minutes in the defeat, down from his near 17-minute average during the season.

Kentucky guard De'Aaron Fox downplayed the comments, but they caught the eye of former Wildcat and current Sacramento Kings center Willie Cauley-Stein.

Wichita State ultimately gave Kentucky everything it could handle, but saw its two final possessions end in blocked shots, as the Wildcats advanced to the Sweet 16 with a 65-62 victory.
