Chicago chef builds 400-pound Wrigley Field gingerbread house

Gerald Madero's construction background served him well, as the Chicago chef, who turned in his hard hat six years ago, recently built a replica of Wrigley Field made of gingerbread.

The mini confines measure four feet by four feet, and the structure weighs more than 400 pounds.

"Because I was a carpenter, I had the math skills to build the gingerbread structure," Madero said, according to Maggie Hradecky of the Rockford Star. "I had to make curves and all that to make it fit. Not having those skills probably would have made it almost impossible."

Building the replica took his team of workers more than 70 hours over roughly two weeks.
