With a 4-1 win Thursday over the Toronto Blue Jays, the Cleveland Indians tied a franchise record with 13 consecutive wins, the first time they've done so since 1951.

The Indians finished June with a 22-6 record, the best record they've had in a month since 1954. That season they went on to the World Series, according to Sports Time Ohio.

"It's something pretty special that's going on right now," Indians right-hander Cody Allen said. "But you've also got to remember that just because we're winning ballgames right now doesn't mean it's going to be easy the next day. We know we've got our hands full for the rest of this series. That's a good club over there."

Cleveland was paced by Carlos Carrasco, who silenced the Blue Jays' bats to the tune of 14 strikeouts. In the process, he became the fifth visiting pitcher with 14 punch outs in a game against Toronto, according to Sportsnet Stats.

Carrasco gave up one run, a solo homer to Josh Donaldson, and three total hits while lowering his ERA to 2.56. As a staff, Cleveland's rotation has held opponents to a .165 average during the streak, while owning a 1.86 ERA.

"This feels great," Carrasco said. "We're playing really hard and we need to continue that. We're trying not to worry about that. It's just keep playing hard. Everything's coming together."

The Indians are the first American League team to win 13 straight games since the Oakland Athletics did it in 2002, when they won 20 in a row.
