Blue Jays' Bautista blasts sportswriter on Twitter
Jose Bautista hits hard – even on social media.
The Toronto Blue Jays slugger is taking a sportswriter to task for a tweet directed at Bautista on Tuesday night.
In a tweet, Toronto Sun columnist Steve Simmons drew attention to Bautista's post-trade deadline comments that suggested he was upset the Blue Jays failed to make a significant move for the stretch run.
Simmons referenced the Kansas City Royals, who had just eliminated the Oakland Athletics in the American League wild-card game with a 9-8 walk-off win.
Bautista responded swiftly.
Simmons continued to engage Bautista on Wednesday in an attempt to dismiss Bautista's tweet as not coming from the player himself.
Bautista is among the most-followed baseball players on Twitter, amassing more than 576,000 followers.
