Germany's Klose scores record 16th World Cup goal

German striker Miroslav Klose stands alone as the most prolific goal-scorer in World Cup history.

Klose notched his 16th goal at the World Cup finals versus Brazil during Tuesday's semi-final, elevating him past Brazil's Ronaldo and into sole possession of the top spot on the all-time goals list.

Already up 1-0, Germany had been especially dangerous in the attacking third. A flurry of passes just inside the box left Klose an open shot at the net. He fired low, but it was saved by Julio Cesar. The rebound came right back to Muller's feet. And you know how it went.

Brazil 2014 is Klose's fourth World Cup finals. He scored fives times in his debut at Korea-Japan 2002, five times at Germany 2006 (winning him the Golden Boot), and four times at South Africa 2010.

Klose tied Ronaldo's record with a late equalizer versus Ghana in German's second game in the group stage.
