It's a new season in Edmonton, but the scene during Thursday's loss to the rival Calgary Flames was all too familiar.

In the midst of the 5-2 decision, a disgruntled fan tossed a sweater onto the ice, while forgetting to remove a cell phone from the pocket in the process.

The scene was reminiscent of at least two similar incidents last season, one of which prompted goaltender Ben Scrivens to toss a discarded jersey back into the stands.

The Oilers outshot the Flames 40-26, but that didn't prevent another loss and sweater toss against their lowly divisional foes, and in front of the 1984 Stanley Cup-winning team, in town for a reunion this weekend.

Still, head coach Dallas Eakins was able to put some sort of positive spin on the night's events.
