Panthers win 2014 NHL draft lottery, will pick 1st at entry draft

The Florida Panthers have won the 2014 NHL draft lottery and will pick first at the entry draft, which will take place on June 27th and 28th in Philadelphia. The Panthers had the second best odd of netting the first overall pick in the lottery.

Here are the results of the NHL draft lottery: 

*The New Jersey Devils will pick 30th due to a cap-circumvention penalty incurred when the NHL rejected the Ilya Kovalchuk contract in the summer of 2010.

Kingston Frontenacs forward Sam Bennett is the top-rated prospect for the 2014 entry draft by NHL Central Scouting, however, Barrie Colts defenseman Aaron Ekblad and Kootenay Ice center Sam Reinhart are considered more likely candidates to be picked with the first overall selection.
