Raptors GM Ujiri on profanity: 'It's not about Brooklyn'

Chris Humphreys / USA TODAY Sports

Toronto Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri already apologized for his much publicized rally cry that came before Game 1 of the team's playoff series against the Brooklyn Nets.

On Tuesday morning, he went a little deeper.

"I was trying to deliver a message. The message [had] the wrong choice of words," Ujiri said during an interview on CBC Radio. "I also apologize to every GM in the NBA."

Ujiri was fined $25,000 for yelling, "F--- Brooklyn!" during a pre-game rally outside Air Canada Centre on Saturday.

Many speculated it was a calculated move and part of the overall rebranding of the team, which Ujiri all but confirmed on Tuesday morning.

So, "F--- Brooklyn!" was "not about Brooklyn".

The series continues with Game 2 set to tip off on Tuesday night.
