Eugenie Bouchard named 2015's most marketable athlete

Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

The Genie Army finally has reason to celebrate in 2015.

Tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has been named the world's most marketable athlete by SportsPro magazine, topping their annual top 50 list.

Despite her on-court struggles in 2015, the Canadian's marketability has yet to take a hit. Bouchard rose from No. 13 in the 2014 SportsPro rankings to the top spot after moving to IMG, the same agency representing fellow female tennis stars Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams.

Bouchard already has career earnings over $4 million so the sky is the limit for the 21-year-old's potential.

She's not the only tennis player to crack the top 50, as she's joined by fellow WTA star Caroline Wozniacki and four ATP players - Novak Djokovic, Kei Nishikori, Grigor Dimitrov and Borna Coric.

SportsPro's rankings are based on marketing potential over the next three years with a number of criteria considered including age, home market, charisma, and crossover appeal.

With the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro approaching, many Olympians enjoy high rankin, including swimmer Missy Franklin, heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson and sprinter Usain Bolt all cracking the top ten.
