Bautista will 'pretend' to coach in NBA All-Star Celebrity Game
Jose Bautista isn't going to try to fool anyone with his basketball coaching abilities when he steps onto the sidelines this weekend.
The Toronto Blue Jays slugger, who is one of four coaches of the Canadian team for Friday's NBA Celebrity All-Star Game in Toronto, will do his best to pretend like he knows what he's doing, though.
"Hopefully I'll just stand there, look halfway decent and maybe pass out some towels," Bautista told Gregory Strong of The Canadian Press. "I'm just going to sit there and pretend I know what's happening."
The 35-year-old Bautista will be joined on the sidelines by Toronto Raptors superstar DeMar DeRozan, former NBA MVP Steve Nash, and rapper Drake, coaching a Canadian ensemble of celebrities including tennis player Milos Raonic and Arcade Fire vocalist Win Butler.
The Canadian squad will be opposed by an American team featuring the likes of Nick Cannon and 2015 WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne.
The celebrity game gets underway at 7 p.m. ET.
