The injury bug follows point guard Deron Williams wherever he goes.

Now a member of the Dallas Mavericks after signing a two-year, $10-million contract with the franchise this offseason, the 31-year-old finds his body failing him once again.

Head coach Rick Carlisle revealed Monday during the team's media day that Williams has a strained calf which may limit his activity for the start of training camp, according to Mavs Outsider Report's Bryan Gutierrez.

"A lot of it was bad luck, a lot of it was wear and tear," Williams said about his recent injury history. "It was frustrating."

Williams missed a combined 32 games over the course of his final two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets due to a number of aches, pains, bruises, and fractures, with his ankles - which he had surgery on last summer - being the biggest red flag. The team eventually bought out the remaining two years of his contract, giving Williams the leeway to sign with his hometown squad.

"I was pretty much hurt the whole time," Williams said when asked why things didn't pan out as expected with the Nets.

In 2014-15, Williams averaged 13 points and 6.6 assists on 38.7 percent shooting in 68 appearances.
