Report: Cristiano Ronaldo prefers Los Angeles if he ever makes MLS move

David Beckham. Steven Gerrard. Cristiano Ronaldo?

Grant Wahl of Sports Illustrated, who reported last month that the Real Madrid megastar is mulling a possible move to MLS when his contract in Spain expires in 2018, now says that the Portuguese attacker has decided on a destination should such a move come to fruition.

Following in the footsteps of fellow noteworthy stars like the aforementioned duo, Ronaldo would prefer to play, not surprisingly, in Los Angeles.

Wahl delves into more detail:

It could be the Galaxy or LAFC, and while talks have yet to take place between Ronaldo and any MLS teams, L.A. is Ronaldo’s preferred destination. Meanwhile, I’m told it’s looking more likely every day that LAFC won’t start play until 2018. That means we could see Ronaldo debut for a new team in a new stadium that year.

As noted, nascent club LAFC are looking increasingly likely to be introduced in 2018, which would give MLS another situation in which a global superstar enters the league with an expansion team – in the mold of Kaka and David Villa with Orlando City and New York City FC, respectively.
