FSU's Jameis Winston cleared in code of conduct case

Jameis Winston will not face disciplinary action from Florida State following a code of conduct hearing regarding sexual assault allegations stemming from a 2012 incident.

"The preponderance of the evidence has not shown that you are responsible for any of the charge violations of the code," Major Harding, a former Florida Supreme Court chief justice who oversaw the case, said in a letter to Winston obtained by USA Today. "Namely, I find that the evidence before me is insufficient to satisfy the burden of proof."

The Seminoles' quarterback faced four potential violations of the university's code of conduct in relation to whether he sexually assaulted a woman in December 2012.

Winston's lawyer, David Cornwell, first published the findings of the university proceedings on Twitter

John Clune and Baine Kerr, Title XI attorneys for the woman, issued a statement:

Of the four people in that apartment only one, our client, testified, and she answered any and all questions about what happened. The three football players, Jameis Winston, Chris Casher, and Ronald Darby, all refused to testify and answer questions and somehow Jameis Winston still wins. The Order doesn't even follow the Student Conduct Code, and it ignores the bulk of the evidence

According to FSU policy, the woman has five class days to appeal the ruling.
