Lance Stephenson likely to miss a few games with pelvic sprain

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

The Lance Stephenson rumor mill is going to cool down for a few days.

Attached to trade rumors for a week or two now, the Charlotte Hornets' prized offseason acquisition will hit the shelf for a few days after suffering a pelvic sprain Wednesday. Stephenson was able to return to that game but couldn't practice Thursday. He's considered doubtful for the team's Friday and Saturday games as a result.

Stephenson has been a relative ironman over the last two seasons, missing just four games in each and playing the Hornets' full 25-game slate so far.

He's not playing particularly well, though, averaging 10.2 points on an anemic 38.6 percent shooting with a 15.1 percent mark from long range. He contributes in other ways, adding 6.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and occasionally inconsistent but usually effective defense, but he hasn't exactly been what the Hornets expected.

It's unclear who will draw the start with Stephenson sidelined, but Gerald Henderson and Gary Neal are the most likely candidates.
